Root Memorial Square is a rejuvenated park in downtown Houston. This makeover is Houston’s rendition of New York City’s Rucker Park, a famous New York amenity for street basketball. The parks design, centered around the preservation of 31 existing trees, involves the addition of a sunken basketball court, tiered seating, local artist sculptures and a private gazebo surrounded by native plantings and a waterwall feature. It has been designed with the intent of hosting community basketball games, local festivals, and providing a gathering place for downtown employees and visitors to the nearby George R. Brown Convention Center.

FMG developed an accompanying program of environmental graphics for the park.
